We acknowledge that we are gathered on ancestral lands, on Treaty One Territory. These lands are the heartland of
the Métis people.
We always thank God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, when we pray for you, because
we have heard of your faith in Christ Jesus and of the love you have for all God’s people. Colossians 1:3&4

Dear Parish of the Ascension, Stonewall,
Greetings in the name of our saviour, Jesus Christ! We are delighted to be with you for a time
while you undertake the search for your new priest. We look forward to seeing you on
scheduled Sundays, but, in the interim, we also wanted to send you a few words about ideas
and hopes that we have for our time together. We hope that you may share your ideas and
hopes with us, too!
To that end, we have created a simple survey, which helps us to assess the needs of the parish
for the next five months. We are especially aware that there may be pastoral and liturgical
needs that this parish has, given the long period of pandemic in which such things as baptisms
and memorial services have been deferred. The survey can be found here: Survey
And now let us introduce ourselves:
Jane hails from Antigonish, Nova Scotia, but has lived in the West for almost half her life, first in
Alberta, and for the past seventeen years in Manitoba. She is a professor of religion at The University of Winnipeg. She lives with her adult daughter, Sophie, who is finishing her undergraduate degree, and her Shih Tzu/soulmate, Leonard. Her son, Luc, lives in Montréal where he is doing graduate studies. Hobbies include writing, cooking, playing guitar (poorly), painting, reading, and taking multiple long walks with Leonard. She recently served as parish priest at St. Peter, Dynevor and travelled regularly to Peguis First Nation and Hodgson for pulpit supply. She looks forward to serving your parish.
Donna was born and raised in Vancouver, B.C. and has lived in Winnipeg for the past 47 years. She is a retired Anglican priest, and is in the process of establishing a healthy balance between
retirement endeavours and offering priestly ministry where her skills may be well used. In addition to ministries involving liturgical leadership, vocational areas of particular interest
include, Christian education for all ages, collaborative ministry models, conflict management, building healthy communities. She lives with her husband David, while her adult children and their families live in Winnipeg, Nova Scotia, and Quebec City. She has 6 grandchildren with a seventh one expected to arrive in the fall. Personal passions include cooking, reading, writing,
gardening, walking, cycling, kayaking, travelling, grandchildren, and enjoying life with David.
We always thank God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, when we pray for you, because we have heard of your faith in Christ Jesus and of the love you have for all God’s people.
In addition to the electronic survey, we will have paper copies of the survey for you available until the end of the summer. We thank you in advance for filling these out.
May you have a healthy and happy summer. Please be assured of our prayers as we wait to gather again.
Wishing you all God’s richest blessings,
The Rev. Canon Donna Joy
